Sunday on Blue Lake: Farewell to the Morning...

Please join host Foley Schuler in celebrating the program's final episode in the morning—before moving to its new time on Sunday afternoons, beginning July 5!

For nearly 30 years, Foley Schuler has kept West Michigan company every Sunday morning with his trademark combination of music and ideas, and will continue to do so, in the afternoon beginning next month. With the changes in Blue Lake's Sunday line up beginning on July 5, the station's long-running Sunday on Blue Lake with Foley Schuler will move to an all new time: 1 to 4 pm. This week, with the final show in its longtime morning berth. we'll mark the milestone with a special program of musical expressions of—and meditations on—the notion of morning, from such diverse array of composers as Giya Kancheli, Philip Glass, Johann Strauss, Jr., Dave Brubeck, and Maurice Ravel.

Other highlights include a 100th birthday tribute to comedy icon Mel Brooks, in the form of a soundtrack suite from one of legendary director's most beloved films, Young Frankenstein, in the show's final hour.

You can hear Sunday on Blue Lake with Foley Schuler Sunday from 9 until noon—and beginning on July 5, Sunday afternoons from 1 until 4—on Blue Lake Public Radio.

Encouraged by creative parents, Foley began his music career at age 7, studying violin with Jean Manning at North Muskegon Public Schools. As a Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp camper, he became Blue Lake Public Radio’s first high school intern. Foley earned an English Literature degree from Hope College, and Masters in Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the Warren Wilson College. He has performed with the West Michigan (formerly West Shore) Symphony; served on the English Department faculty at Muskegon Community College, and been the Music, Art & Theatre reviewer for the Muskegon Chronicle. He follows his love of the arts around the globe, but says, “There is no place like the Blue Lake setting, sharing extraordinary music with our listeners.” Foley hosts Blue Lake Public Radio’s weekday classical music from 1 to 4 p.m. and “Sunday on Blue Lake”.
