New Sunday Schedule
Following the loss of federal funding last year, public broadcasters across the nation have been making tough decisions. We're in the same position here at Blue Lake. At the beginning of July, we will be reorganizing our Sunday schedule. These changes are not made lightly. We know that many of our listeners have long-standing, very comfortable, Sunday listening habits.
Why?
Blue Lake Public Radio will be discontinuing the affiliation agreement with American Public Media (APM) at the end of June. APM is the distributor of "Pipedreams" and "SymphonyCast" - two key programs in our Sunday line-up. The expense of the affiliation does not make sense for us moving forward - not the programs themselves - but, unfortunately, we will no longer be able to air “Pipedreams” or “SymphonyCast.”
What are the changes?
We are pleased to offer some new programming:
- We will be adding Music from the Third Floor - two hours of choral music from independent producer Bill Cromwell.
- Early Music Now - the early music program from WFMT in Chicago.
- A second hour of the Retro Cocktail Hour.
Sunday on Blue Lake with Foley Schuler will move from Sunday morning to Sunday afternoon (in the same time slot you listen to Foley during the week).
Other programs will also move:
- Concierto will move from Sunday afternoon to Monday evening.
- Millennium of Music and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center will move to slots on Sunday morning.
- From the Top moves from 5 p.m. to 4 p.m.
