The Metropolitan Opera announced its 2026–27 season, featuring five new productions and a performance of Mahler’s Eighth Symphony conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the Met’s Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director. This season marks the 20th anniversary at the helm for Peter Gelb, the Met’s Maria Manetti Shrem General Manager.
The season's new productions are:
- Giuseppi Verdi’s Macbeth, featuring Lise Davidsen as Lady Macbeth and Quinn Kelsey in the title role, Directed by Louisa Proske in Her Met Debut Conducted by Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
- The world premiere of Lincoln in the Bardo by Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek with Peter Mattei, Christine Goerke, and Anthony Roth Costanzo.
- Janáček’s Jenůfa starring Asmik Grigorian with Tomáš Hanus conducting in His Met debut.
- Giacomo Puccini’s La Fanciulla del West with Sondra Radvanovsky, SeokJong Baek, and Christopher Maltman.
- Met Premiere of Silent Night by Kevin Puts and Mark Campbell with Elza van den Heever and Ben Bliss. Dalia Stasevska will make her Met conducting debut.
Yannick Nézet-Séguin also conducts Puccini’s Tosca, Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier, and Wagner’s Parsifal. Principal Guest Conductor Daniele Rustioni returns to conduct Verdi’s Otello and Puccini’s La Bohème and Tosca.
