One of the finest film composer's of England of his generation, Brian Easdale (August 10, 1909 – October 30, 1995), is best remembered for writing indelible music for a string of masterpieces the legendary filmmaking team of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. Three of these—The Red Shoes, Black Narcissues, and Peeping Tom—will be represented in the final hour of Monday's Classical Music With Foley Schuler. Other highlights included the final symphony (the mercurial and often mystifying Symphony No 15) of Dmitri Shostakovich, the anniversary of whose death was Sunday.
You can hear Foley Schuler's musical selections—and stories behind the music—every weekday afternoon from 1 until 4 on Blue Lake Public Radio.
