Tune in Monday afternoon as Foley curates a program of moon-inspired music in honor of the 57th anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 moon landing.

The date July 20 will forever (forever, since 1969), be associated with one of the seminal events in human history, when American astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin became the first humans ever to land on the moon, with Armstong taking the first steps on the earth's nearest neighbor with the words now etched in history: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."

The ever-mysterious "orb of the night," has inspired countless works of classical music over the centuries, and on Monday afternoon's Classical Music with Foley Schuler, in honor of the 57th anniversary of humankind's first steps on the moon, Foley will offer his annual Moon Show—including moon-inspired pieces by Beethoven, Dvořák, Janáček and more.

Encouraged by creative parents, Foley began his music career at age 7, studying violin with Jean Manning at North Muskegon Public Schools. As a Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp camper, he became Blue Lake Public Radio’s first high school intern. Foley earned an English Literature degree from Hope College, and Masters in Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the Warren Wilson College. He has performed with the West Michigan (formerly West Shore) Symphony; served on the English Department faculty at Muskegon Community College, and been the Music, Art & Theatre reviewer for the Muskegon Chronicle. He follows his love of the arts around the globe, but says, “There is no place like the Blue Lake setting, sharing extraordinary music with our listeners.” Foley hosts Blue Lake Public Radio’s weekday classical music from 1 to 4 p.m. and “Sunday on Blue Lake”.
