White Lake Chamber Music Festival, 2026!

Foley previews the 2026 White Lake Chamber Music Festival with the Festival's longtime Artistic Director, and now Director Emeritus, Bob Swan.

The White Lake Chamber Music Society (WLCMS) was established in 2005 to enrich the musical landscape of the White Lake area with live classical music performances and community education. Today, it contnues this mission by regularly presenting world-class concerts and recitals. Offerings also include an impressive list of educational opportunities, scholarship programs, and enrichment events as part of its annual programming—the centerpiece of which is the annual White Lake Chamber Music Festival, which begins on Thursday, July 16 at 7:30 pm with a special free program of chamber works by Robert Schumann and Antonín Dvořák right here at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp's Blodgett Recital in a special free concert at 7:30 pm—kicking off 10 days of great music-making around the White Lake area.

Listen here on demand as Blue Lake Public Radio's Foley Schuler previews this year's Festival with Bob Swan, retired from an illustrious 36-yeare career as violist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and one of the driving forces of the Festival over the years—who for many years was its Artistic Director and remains still very much involved in shapings its vision in an advisory capacity.

Encouraged by creative parents, Foley began his music career at age 7, studying violin with Jean Manning at North Muskegon Public Schools. As a Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp camper, he became Blue Lake Public Radio’s first high school intern. Foley earned an English Literature degree from Hope College, and Masters in Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the Warren Wilson College. He has performed with the West Michigan (formerly West Shore) Symphony; served on the English Department faculty at Muskegon Community College, and been the Music, Art & Theatre reviewer for the Muskegon Chronicle. He follows his love of the arts around the globe, but says, “There is no place like the Blue Lake setting, sharing extraordinary music with our listeners.” Foley hosts Blue Lake Public Radio’s weekday classical music from 1 to 4 p.m. and “Sunday on Blue Lake”.
