Early Music on Sunday

Robert Aubry Davis and Sara Schneider

Early music is generally understood as music that survives from before the Baroque Period (1600 to 1750). This includes Renaissance and Medieval music and goes back before that as well.

Millennium of Music has been offered for years here on Blue Lake. Robert Aubry Davis searches for the best music from the thousand years before the birth of J.S. Bach.

A new show - Early Music Now with Sara Schneider is also a showcase for music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and early Baroque, this includes selections from sonorous medieval chant and polyphony to delightful renaissance madrigals, dances, and consort music to magnificent baroque cantatas and keyboard music. Host and producer Sara Schneider brings knowledge, charm, and passion to her presentation including the latest recordings by today’s vibrant young ensembles and classics from the dawn of the early music revival with a chance to meet the musicians.

We hope this repertoire adds to your enjoyment of Sunday mornings. Millennium of Music airs at 7 a.m. and Early Music Now airs at 10 a.m.

Klay came into radio as a volunteer folk music host on a small public radio station in Ft. Dodge (IA) in the late ’80s. He became Director of Broadcasting for Blue Lake in 2022. You will hear Klay filling in from time to time where needed.
