Early music is generally understood as music that survives from before the Baroque Period (1600 to 1750). This includes Renaissance and Medieval music and goes back before that as well.
We have aired Millennium of Music for years here on Blue Lake. Robert Aubry Davis searches for the best music from the thousand years before the birth of J.S. Bach. We will be moving Millennium of Music from Monday nights to Sunday mornings.
We are adding a new show - Early Music Now with Sara Schneider. Also a showcase for music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and early Baroque, this includes selections from sonorous medieval chant and polyphony to delightful renaissance madrigals, dances, and consort music to magnificent baroque cantatas and keyboard music. Host and producer Sara Schneider brings knowledge, charm, and passion to her presentation including the latest recordings by today’s vibrant young ensembles and classics from the dawn of the early music revival with a chance to meet the musicians.
We hope this repertoire adds to your enjoyment of Sunday mornings. Millennium of Music will air at 7 a.m. and Early Music Now will air at 10 a.m. starting July 5.
