On this week's program, Foley feature's Max Steiner's iconic, evocative score to the classic film King Kong, released nationwide 93 years ago this week.

As we continue to celebrate the safe return of the Artemis II Crew from their historic moon mission, our program's first hour will feature dreams of flight from earlier times as expressed in music of Eric Whitacre Norman Dello Joio. With our 93rd anniversary tribute to King Kong as our musical centerpiece in the 10 o'oclock our, the show's final hour will include some of the last music of Igor Stravinsky, who passed away 55 years ago this week, as well as music for Orthodox Easter by Stravinsky's teacher, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.

You can hear Sunday on Blue Lake with Foley Schuler every Sunday morning from 9 until noon on Blue Lake Public Radio.

Encouraged by creative parents, Foley began his music career at age 7, studying violin with Jean Manning at North Muskegon Public Schools. As a Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp camper, he became Blue Lake Public Radio’s first high school intern. Foley earned an English Literature degree from Hope College, and Masters in Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the Warren Wilson College. He has performed with the West Michigan (formerly West Shore) Symphony; served on the English Department faculty at Muskegon Community College, and been the Music, Art & Theatre reviewer for the Muskegon Chronicle. He follows his love of the arts around the globe, but says, “There is no place like the Blue Lake setting, sharing extraordinary music with our listeners.” Foley hosts Blue Lake Public Radio’s weekday classical music from 1 to 4 p.m. and “Sunday on Blue Lake”.
