Composer and conductor Jörg Widmann will be on the podium for this week's live broadcast by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
The concert opens with a piece of Mr. Widmann's, called "Con brio," which he describes as echoing Beethoven’s “fury and rhythmic insistence." DSO Concertmaster Robyn Bollinger will be featured in Mendelssohn’s beloved Violin Concerto - awash in lyricism and virtuosic displays. Robert Schumann’s buoyant “Spring” Symphony (Symphony No. 1) will complete the program. Conducted by Mendelssohn at its premiere, the symphony delights in celebrating the season of renewal.
Tune in Friday morning at 10:40 for music from Detroit here on Blue Lake Public Radio.
