With Action Comics No. 1 (the comic book featuring the first-ever appearance of Superman) just in the headlines for selling at auction for a record-setting $15 million, we'll enjoy the dazzling Superman-inspired symphony that launched composer Michael Daugherty to international acclaim—his Metropolis Symphony—written in celebration of the 50th anniversary of that same first appearance by Superman in 1938. That will be paired with another symphony of heroic proportions, Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, "Eroica."
You can hear Foley Schuler's musical selections—and the stories behind the music—every weekday afternoon from 1 until 4 on Blue Lake Public Radio.
