Foley recently spoke with the Holland Symphony President and CEO about some of the orchestra's exciting upcoming events, including two performances with the renowned violinist Midori. Listen to the conversation here!

Blue Lake audiences had a chance to get to know the Holland Symphony Orchestra's
recently appointed President and CEO Michael Naess (who joined the organization in 2024), when he visited Foley Schuler's afternoon program recently. One of the main topics of conversation was the Symphony's upcoming 2025 Gift of Music summer offerings during the month of August, whose major highlight will be performances August 8 and 9 featuring a legend of the violin, Midori, as soloist with the orchestra in the beloved Violin Concerto by Felix Mendelssohn—which will also represent the inaugural concerts in the HSO's new home, West Ottawa Performing Arts Center. Encouraged by creative parents, Foley began his music career at age 7, studying violin with Jean Manning at North Muskegon Public Schools. As a Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp camper, he became Blue Lake Public Radio’s first high school intern. Foley earned an English Literature degree from Hope College, and Masters in Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the Warren Wilson College. He has performed with the West Michigan (formerly West Shore) Symphony; served on the English Department faculty at Muskegon Community College, and been the Music, Art & Theatre reviewer for the Muskegon Chronicle. He follows his love of the arts around the globe, but says, “There is no place like the Blue Lake setting, sharing extraordinary music with our listeners.” Foley hosts Blue Lake Public Radio’s weekday classical music from 1 to 5 p.m. and “Sunday on Blue Lake”.
