The bluegrass musician has a new album called "Travels and Time."

Steve talks with bluegrass musician Jim Hurst this week on A Michigan Saturday Night. The IBMA guitar player of the year in 2001 and 2002 has a new album out soon, called "Travels and Time" and Steve will play a couple tracks from it, and talk with Jim about music and life. Steve says "Jim is just one of the coolest guys I know. He has such a huge heart, remembers and cares about everybody, and always has a kind word and joyful mood. And he picks like mad!"

Along with Jim Hurst, we'll hear new music from Special Consensus, Seth Mulder, Shannon Slaughter, and more. A Michigan Saturday Night is heard each week at 8:00.

Steve came to Blue Lake as an announcer in 1985 and has worn many hats over the years. Currently the Operations Manager, Steve is responsible for the technical operations of Blue Lake Public Radio. His on-air work includes hosting “A Michigan Saturday Night” from 8:00-9:00pm, and classical music when called on. Steve oversees Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp’s summer recordings and broadcasts. In his private time, Steve loves all types of music, and plays banjo in a couple of local bluegrass groups.
