Tune in as Foley celebrates the national holiday of France with all sorts of great French music throughout the afternoon.

"Bastille Day" is the name commonly given in English-speaking countries to the national day of France. Celebrated on July 14 each year, it marks the anniversary of one of the major events of the French Revolution—the storming of the Bastille on July 14. 1789—as well as the subsequent Fête de la Fédération that celebrated the unity of the French people on 14 July 1790. Celebrations are held throughout France, including what has been reported as the oldest and largest military parade in Europe, held on July 14 on the Champs-Élysées in Paris in front of the President of France, along with other French officials and foreign guests. In honor of the holiday, Foley will feature some of his favorite music of France throughout the afternoon on Blue Lake Public Radio.

You can hear Foley Schuler's musical selections—and the stories behind the music—every afternoon from 1 until 4 on Blue Lake Public Radio.

Encouraged by creative parents, Foley began his music career at age 7, studying violin with Jean Manning at North Muskegon Public Schools. As a Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp camper, he became Blue Lake Public Radio’s first high school intern. Foley earned an English Literature degree from Hope College, and Masters in Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the Warren Wilson College. He has performed with the West Michigan (formerly West Shore) Symphony; served on the English Department faculty at Muskegon Community College, and been the Music, Art & Theatre reviewer for the Muskegon Chronicle. He follows his love of the arts around the globe, but says, “There is no place like the Blue Lake setting, sharing extraordinary music with our listeners.” Foley hosts Blue Lake Public Radio’s weekday classical music from 1 to 4 p.m. and “Sunday on Blue Lake”.
